Meet The Author

Robert Gerst

Robert Gerst teaches film and literature at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, where he chairs the Liberal Arts Department. He lives with his novelist wife in the Massachusetts house they first inhabited when their children were young.

He has served, at various times, as documentary film cameraman and editor, alderman, newspaper columnist, Little League coach, sports writer, and financial officer in a retail corporation. His doctoral dissertation about an alchemist mistaken for a monarch expresses his view that imagination opens the door to reality.

His book, Make Film History: Rewrite, Reshoot, and Recut The World’s Greatest Movies shows how, with acts of imagination, you can make great movies live again and recreate movie history.
