Sam O’Steen edited dozens of films including Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Cool Hand Luke, The Graduate, Rosemary’s Baby, Chinatown, and Silkwood. Enamoured with film making from an early age, he used to find his way on to the Warner Brothers lot in the hope of getting into the editing department. He was eventually rewarded with a contract (1955-67) and started as assistant editor in 1957. His first credit as fully-fledged editor was not until 1964.
